How can we help?

Everything you need to get the most out of Oareo.

Getting Started

Supported Devices

Oareo requires a LiDAR-enabled device running iOS 17 or later. Supported devices include:

  • iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max and later Pro models
  • iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation and later)

Your First Capture

Open Oareo and tap the capture button. Choose Single Room to get started. Hold your device at chest height and move slowly around the room, keeping walls, floor edges, and major surfaces in view. The app provides real-time feedback as it builds the 3D model. When you're done, tap Done to save your Room.

Permissions

Oareo needs Camera access for LiDAR capture — this is the only required permission. Location (optional) adds context to your captures. Photo Library — Add Only (optional) is used when you save images. You can manage these in iOS Settings anytime.

Capture Modes

Single Room Capture

The fastest way to capture one room or a smaller bounded space. Ideal for individual rooms, offices, or compact areas. For best reliability, keep single-room captures under approximately 1,500–2,000 sq ft — for larger spaces, use Multi-Room mode instead.

Multi-Room Capture

Capture connected spaces room-by-room in a single session. After completing each room, tap Done, then tap Add Room to continue with the next space. All rooms are captured in the same coordinate system and automatically grouped into a Structure. Rooms must share a wall, doorway, or overlap — do not jump to unrelated spaces mid-session.

Structure Creation

Build larger structures over time across multiple sessions. Start by creating an empty Structure, then add Rooms to it over days or weeks. Each new session uses relocalization — point your device at a previously captured area and Oareo will align the new capture with existing data. Best for staged projects where you can't capture everything at once.

Capture Tips

  • Ensure good lighting. LiDAR works in low light, but the camera texture needs ambient light for best results.
  • Move slowly and steadily. Rapid movements cause tracking loss. Walk at a calm pace and keep the device stable.
  • Open doors before capturing. Open all interior doors before starting so the full space is accessible in one pass.
  • Avoid reflective surfaces. Mirrors, large glass panels, and highly reflective surfaces can confuse LiDAR depth readings.
  • Capture where surfaces meet. Focus on floor-wall junctions and corners — these give the best dimensional accuracy for floor plans.
  • Hold at chest height. Keep your device roughly at chest level, angled slightly downward to capture both walls and floor simultaneously.

3D Viewer

Interactive Viewer

After capturing a Room, explore it in the interactive 3D viewer. Pinch to zoom, drag to orbit, and use two fingers to pan. The viewer is built for architectural detail with high-fidelity mesh rendering.

Measurement Tool

Tap the measurement tool to place points on surfaces and measure distances with millimeter-level accuracy. Useful for quick dimension checks without leaving the viewer.

Environment & Appearance

Adjust environment lighting to see your model under different conditions. Recolor surfaces instantly to visualize changes. Apply presets or fine-tune settings for the look you need.

AR Quick Look

Preview any Room or Structure in augmented reality. AR Quick Look places your captured model into your real-world environment so you can understand scale, layout, and spatial context.

Floor Plans

Oareo automatically generates 2D floor plans from your 3D capture data. Floor plans include:

  • Room type labels — automatically detected labels like Kitchen, Bedroom, Living Room (iOS 17+ RoomPlan detection).
  • Dimension lines — perimeter and sub-section measurements displayed on the plan.
  • Area calculation — total square footage for each room.
  • Walls, doors, and windows — structural elements rendered in the plan.
  • Furniture detection — toggleable appliance and furniture icons.
  • Customization — toggle dimensions, furniture, scale bar, and compass. Adjust wall colors and rotation.

For the best floor plan accuracy, capture where the floor meets the walls and ensure corners are well-covered. Export floor plans as PDF (vector, letter-size) or PNG (high-resolution raster).

Structures

What is a Structure?

A Structure is a container that groups multiple Rooms into a unified model. Think of it as a project — an apartment, a floor of a building, or an entire property. Structures are created automatically from Multi-Room captures, or you can create one manually and add Rooms over time.

Merging Rooms

Once a Structure contains multiple Rooms, you can merge them into a single unified 3D model. For reliable merging, rooms should share connected space — a common wall, doorway, or overlapping features. Merging combines all rooms into one exportable model with a unified floor plan.

Relocalization

When adding a Room to an existing Structure, Oareo uses relocalization to align the new capture with previously captured data. Point your device at a previously captured area — once the mesh aligns, continue capturing the new space. This all happens on-device with no cloud processing.

Exporting

Oareo supports 7 export formats:

USDZ Apple's 3D format. AR Quick Look, Finder, and Apple ecosystem compatible.
OBJ Universal 3D mesh. Works with Blender, Rhino, SketchUp, and most CAD tools.
PLY Point cloud with color data. Common in research and visualization tools.
STL Standard for 3D printing. Compatible with slicers and fabrication workflows.
XYZ Raw point cloud coordinates. Lightweight and universally readable.
PDF Vector floor plan. Letter-size, ready for print or digital sharing.
PNG High-resolution raster floor plan or viewer screenshot.

All exports are generated on-device. When you share or save, files go only to the destination you choose — Files, AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or another app.

Privacy & Data

On-Device Processing

Everything happens on your device. Capture processing, floor plan generation, 3D rendering, and export preparation all run locally using Apple frameworks. Oareo does not operate any cloud services.

No Accounts, No Tracking

Oareo does not require sign-in or account creation. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising trackers, and no third-party data collection of any kind.

iCloud Backup

If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, iOS may include Oareo data in your standard Apple backup. This is controlled by your Apple account settings, not by Oareo. Oareo does not separately sync data to any Oareo-managed cloud storage.

Deleting Your Data

Delete individual Rooms, Structures, or exports from within the app at any time. Uninstalling Oareo removes all local app data from your device permanently.
